…The use of compounded drugs by current and former servicemen and servicewomen has skyrocketed in the past decade, federal data show. In some cases, the Defense Department’s Tricare insurance and private insurers have faced bills of up to $30,000 for a month’s supply of the compounded cream, records show.
The 22-page indictment alleges Blakely operated Blakely Medical Devices from her home, and that between Jan. 14, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2014, she conspired to commit wire fraud, health care fraud and violated laws against bribery and kickbacks. Blakely was informed of the charges at her initial appearance Wednesday in federal court in San Antonio, and released pending trial on $50,000 unsecured bond…
